Panama Fishing Report - Marlin and YFT at Hannibal Bank!- March 9-12, 2013

Propiedad de Paradise Lodge, Isla Paridas hosted another great group of guys..... Peter, Dan, and Matt Arvan along with their good friend Sean York for a few days of blue water hunting here in the Gulf of Chiriqui, Panama. The guys from North Carolina were looking to target Yellowfin Tuna and Black Marlin offshore and we got into them! Not 10 minutes into the first day out at Hannibal Bank we put the hook into a 450# Black Marlin that ate one of our live baits! Sean put the screws to the fish and had him to the boat in under 30 minutes. The fish must have jumped fifteen times! I put together this video from the footage I took and the underwater video of Matt took at the release.....

The following days we fished at Isla Montuosa and Hannibal to try and raise another Marlin but green water moved in and we didn't get another shot. The Yellowfin Tunas although are up into the Gulf of Chiriqui in full force. Fish are busting all around if you find the Porpoises and bird activity. YFTs were hanging still down south around Jicaron/Jicarita with cooler water and showed up one day at Isla Montuosa. It wasn't always easy enticing these Tunas to bite as they are still being very picky. We ran from group to group of different YFTs, during our days, to find the ones that were interested in eating our baits. We did have numerous hookups..... we got a few and missed quite a few but we did okay! We got hits on Blue Runners and quite a few on Poppers! "POP!, POP!, POP!" all of us were screaming as the guys were casting on the boiling Tunas. We had a great time and Pete and Sean were able to fill both their coolers with fresh YFT for their trip back to the US! Enjoy the Pics.....
